Our Contribution Counts
At the heart of Unipart 'U' activity is the company's drive for continuous improvement in every aspect of its business across its stakeholder relationships.
UGC practises continuous improvement principles which encourage employees to improve quality and reduce cost through individual efforts or in groups called Our Contribution Counts Circles.
OCC Circles were first launched in the Unipart Group of Companies in 1991 and were developed by drawing on the best practice experience from Japan and North America, but then designed to specifically reflect the culture of Unipart.
OCC Circles empower employees to solve any challenges that might face them in the workplace. Any UGC employee can form a Circle with other employees - across all levels and parts of the Group who are chosen carefully either for their skills or for the knowledge which they can contribute to the work of the Circle.
In 1993, the programme was extended with the launch of Stakeholder Circles, designed to involve suppliers, customers and the communities in which the Group trades. Stakeholder Circles have enabled the Group's employees to work with their counterparts on a wide range of issues dealing with environmental concerns, quality and customer service.
